New York Yankees Lose the 2009 World Series

New York Yankees Lose the 2009 World Series

Yes you read the title right.  I am taking my bet right now that the New York Yankees are going to lose the 2009 World Series, despite being up right now 3 games to 2.  They will play again tonight in New York and I predict that they will lose the game 4 - 2.  Then, tomorrow night, they will play in New York again, and the Phillies will win 5 - 3.  Oh, and by the way, if I am right, I will be taking questions on future games that you would like to bet on.  If I am wrong, then that will be a big disappointment as I am an avid New York Yankee hater.  I am actually an Atlanta Braves fan so my last few years have been quite depressing.  The only thing that makes it better is to see the New York Yankees lose.  In order for my random guess here to come true, I will need Utley to come through big yet again.  He has obviously been a big reason they have won the Philadelphia Phillies have won the two games they have.  If the Yankees end up winning tonight, feel free to drop back by and leave a comment making fun of me.

Yankee haters: The 'easiest' fan to be.

Yankee fans always smile when told, "It's so EASY to be a Yankee fan." We generally don't agree (hey, the pressure to always win spills out into fandom!), but for the sake of argument let's concede that point.

The EASIER thing to be is an ANTI-Yankee fan (or Yankee hater, if one will). The odds are good, very good indeed, that each year some one or more of the 29 other MLB teams will disrupt the team, at some point, from its annual goal.

Boston Celtic great Bill Russell once said (and I paraphrase): The opposite of love isn't hate; it's apathy. Yankee-hating is good for Major League Baseball; if the Yankees didn't exist, MBL would have to invent them.

With that knowledge, and a 27th championship, Yankee fans are content ... for now.

Sorry your prediction didn't work out. But Chase Utley really could have been, and should have been, the Series MVP.
