Next Solar Eclipse in the United States a Mere Seven Years Away

I've always been fascinated by solar eclipses -- especially total solar eclipses -- but have never gotten the opportunity to witness one. The last total eclipse of the sun here in the U.S. was way back in February, 1979. It was partial in my neck of the woods, but I do remember viewing a crescent image on one of those telescope screens.
All this news of the total solar eclipse coming up on July 22nd in parts of Asia and the western Pacific has me wondering when the next such event will occur in here in the states. So, I fired up my trusty Google and found the answer.
It looks like we were in North America will have to wait about seven years, I'm afraid, as the moon's shadow will stretch across the U.S. again on August 21, 2017. The track will begin in Oregon and sweep toward South Carolina. If I'm still residing here in the great state of Illinois, I shouldn't have to go too far to catch this one -- I think. Whatever it takes, I'll be there. Rest assured, I'll have a superb write up, complete with awe inspiring images, for everyone here at Xomba to enjoy.
For everyone who will get the opportunity to see Wednesday's amazing spectacle, I am Abmox green with envy. But I'll just bide my time, waiting for my chance in a mere seven years. It'll be my best xombyte, ever!
