Niggrish: Rap's Saving Grace

Niggrish: Rap's Saving Grace

Calling the language in the best rap-tracks 'Niggrish' isn't meant to show any traces of current racism, but rather uses the old, dead racism-language to describe my fascination with the new, neutral language.

In brief, 'Niggrish' is 'English delivered so that you don't understand it on first hearing it.' An example that springs to my mind is "Informer": as far as I remember, it went, "Informer: yaknosirdaddimeSnowisnottoblame, Alickeeboomboomdown ..."

Maybe I went and learned the "real English" lyrics from somewhere, and you can surely find them somewhere on the Internet today; but those aren't what made the song hot! What did make it hot was the fact that--hearing the song--you knew it meant something, but you weren't sure what.

The reason I thought of that here is that I will occasionally approve add-requests from rap artists (like this one), and then turn around and deny the next one I hear. The reason: approved rappers use Niggrish.

The denied ones do not use Niggrish, and--sounding just like the approved rappers (except for the Niggrish)--sound more like 'impatient Lit.-majors' (I should know, I was one) than hard-pressed thugs.

The POINT Of the Xombyte Is...

The point of this entire xombyte is about the evolution (or just "change" if you will) of language and therefore music lyrics evolve along wit' it. Even if it was written for a rap music trade magazine, I thought it was kinda fun and I'm sure it has it's place here along with all the other xombytes that might not always have some big important "point" to make, but you're sure able to express yourself here at least, right? You didn't think it was kinda funny? Sometimes you have to read it again to get it. The Intruder lyrics are crazy-funny!

Actually, I missed the point

Actually, I missed the point of the entire xombyte, not just the part about denyin'. It was as though it was written for a rap music trade magazine. I guess.

Intruder: YounosaydaddymesnowmeI’llgoblame!!

No Lady:P, J says, “I will occasionally approve add-requests from rap artists (like this one), and then turn around and deny the next one I hear.” and it would probably be that Wonderer was wondering what J was talkin’ ‘bout with all the “denyin‘” bidness. The idea of Niggrish does make sense too, here where J says… “In brief, 'Niggrish' is 'English delivered so that you don't understand it on first hearing it.' An example that springs to my mind is "Informer": as far as I remember, it went, "Informer: yaknosirdaddimeSnowisnottoblame, Alickeeboomboomdown” “Yak no sir daddi me Snow is not to blame!” ...and the rest is just noises. Actually, it’s really… “You no say daddy me snow me I’ll go blame!” And then… “Detective mon said daddy me Snow me stab someone down the lane!” These are actual words but the grammar is all kinds of messed up, and sounds like gibberish to one like myself. Even without this Niggrish, I still can’t understand the lyrics of most songs, maybe I’ma lil hard o hearin’.

I'm a Wonder-er too!!

Wonderer, Maybe we are just too 'old' to understand this lingo?? Sorry MythMan...I still don't understand what the heck you're talking about either.????? No sweat though! For some reason, it just doesn't seem all that important anyway. BTW: [ There, it was kind of a "sorry I'm not adding you guys". But the comments regarding 'music-ality' seemed universal to me. ] And I somehow doubt that Wonderer's comment had anything to do with "YourSpace"! Lady:P

Wonderer, It Was Lost in Translation

The 'accepted/denied'-bit is from MySpace, where I originally wrote this post. There, it was kind of a 'sorry I'm not "adding" you's goys,' but the comments regarding "musicality" seemed universal to me. - Call me J, MythMan J

new school language

the term niggrish is so not offense, like wigger.

Maybe it's because I've been

Maybe it's because I've been denied, but what on earth are you talking about?
