Nightmare
posted June 1, 2009 - 5:38pmYou have been there before at the crossroads, that fork in the road when time seems to stand still. You have been on that road on a cool fall evening, taking a long walk. Everyone seems to be inside their homes cuddling to the warmth of their fireplace. You can't
sleep, you obviously can’t sit down, and as you walk down the streets, you can hear leaves rustling as the north westerly winds whistles softly through the leaves, constantly looking back to see if someone is following you.
You have been there before, waiting for late night train in the subway systems of New York, a stranger to New York City, not knowing where to go. You are looking at passers by not trusting anyone, because you do not want your vulnerability to surface, you are thinking someone might take advantage of me. You can hear your heart pounding as you walk towards the direction that made the most sense, the phones or if you have one start fiddling with it.
At these times in our lives, the scary movies we have watch do start to play tricks on our minds, lets face it. Here is a poem depicting a nightmare.
Nightmare
At twilight
The moon glares down
The stars stood still and calmly watch
The night owl stole the stillness of the night
With its "hoot, hoot"
Southerly winds hissing through the branches
I lay,Tossing and turning
Making the bed screech
As the hinges sqeak
I scrambled and stumbled
I scratched and scuttled
To get away from its grip
To escape it's devouring fangs
Which were almost ready
to close its jaws like "clap" on me
I scream a piercing scream
As I was about to loose the fight
Waking up under cold sweat
As the moon glares down and
the stars still standing
Calmly watching
