The Nintendo Wii: Gaming for Older Gamers
posted January 19, 2009 - 1:08amThe Nintendo Wii is one of the most popular gaming consoles in history, and it's not hard to see why. While the PS3 and Xbox 360 keep fighting harder and harder for the hard core gamers, the Wii's unique controls and approach to gaming has allowed them to sell to the huge market of non-traditional gamers. It might be the first time in video game history where parents or grandparents are just as likely to buy a video game system for themselves as the kids are.
The Nintendo Wii is fast becoming popular among many of the non-traditonal age groups for gamers because the controls and a wide array of simpler yet entertaining games makes the Wii a console that is easy to use and still enjoyable.
Additionally, the Wii is really designed for group gaming, making it a great choice for a family activity. This makes it very different from many of the recent systems like the PS3 and 360, which are designed for hard core gamers who have a lot of gaming experience, while not really thinking of making games for non-gamers.
The Wii is sure to remain popular, and they're not shying away from being a gaming system for non-gamers. This strategy has paid off handsomely for the Wii, and many top Wii games for adults are Wii's best sellers.
