When you first bought your property many years ago, it was more than big enough for your needs, and many of us never really thought about the future and what would happen. We were living in the moment, and so how would we have known that we were going to have kids and to have a family? The home that we thought was perfect for us years ago is now far too small for our needs, and our young kids and teenagers are letting us know this every single day. Your whole family seems to be on top of each other, and even though you have a limited budget, there are some things that you can do with your current space that will allow everyone to get some breathing space.

It is probably the case that you have just bought a new vibrator, and neither you nor your partner has had an opportunity to enjoy it just yet because you can never get time to yourself because the kids are always running in and out of your bedroom because they have no space of their own. It’s time that you start considering creating more space within your home and the following are just some of the top ways that you can do that very thing.

    1. Convert your attic space – There is attic space right above your head that you have never used since you moved into the property, and if there is anything currently stored up there, you can be pretty sure that it is something that you will never use again. This is so much space that is being wasted, and if you talk to any competent building contractor, they will tell you that this can be turned into one large bedroom or two smaller ones. With the addition of a skylight on the roof, your kids will be fighting over this extra space.
    2. Create a granny flat – It is equally likely that you have a garage but you never actually put the car in there as it is always parked in the drive every single night. This is because it has been turned into a store and a laundry space as well. It likely already has a window, a door, and so much potential. This could easily be turned into separate living quarters for your teenager who is driving you crazy every single day, crying out that they don’t have their own space.
    3. Build an extension – It doesn’t make sense to move to a larger home and to a completely different neighborhood when you can just apply for planning permission and build on the space that you need onto your current property. The land is already there so all you need is to contact the local contractor to get the work done.

These are three ways in which you can create more space around your property and stop all of the infighting that is currently happening in your family home.
