Nonnie's Pasta Faglio

I've found that there are many different ways of preparing Pasta Faglio. In my Italian family, the recipe has been handed down three generations with little variation. Hope you enjoy it!

Begin by breaking up several different types of pasta totalling 1 1/2 cups into small pieces -- (spagetti, fuscilli and ditalini are a good combination)

About a cup and a half of chopped celery

Two cloves of garlic

One small chopped onion

Either dried baby lima beans or canned cannelli beans -- (if you use the dried baby lima beans, soak beans overnight, remove bad beans and boil until soft)

16 ounces of tomato sauce

One teaspoon salt

Grating cheese
Black pepper
Hot pepper

Lightly brown garlic and onions in medium size sauce pan
Add six cups of water, celery and tomato sauce.

Cook until celery is soft

Add beans and pasta

Cook until pasta is al dente

Add cheese and pepper to taste

Serve with Italian bread

Makes about six servings

Buon Appetito!
