Normal Behavior In Young Children Often Labeled ADD/ADHD, "Gifted," Autism

Teacher Tom has written a passionate and insightful post about the misuse and dangers of such popular terms as attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), "gifted", and autism to label children. He asserts that these terms are too often misunderstood and misapplied by the general public and can lead to inappropriately treating normal behavior as a condition or illness that needs to be treated by segregation, special education, or medications.
