No one can put 50–60 articles every day of every month. Use the news and celeb gossip only when you are not getting fresh ideas. Otherwise there are billions, no, trillions of pages and tonnes of information on the web. That is enough for everybody to be original and the need to follow someone else is really not there. Carve your own niche and you will survive longer, follow others and you will always be an unguided directionless missile.

The other way to make money is by quality. By quality I mean, you research your topic thoroughly and write a real good article, SEOed properly with the right kind of keywords. This would ensure that people read it; the ads are very sure to be contextual and much higher paying than celebrity gossip. Rest assured that one well-written article would be worth more than 10 or maybe 20 posts on celebrity news and other news. The second thing about writing a good article is that it stays in vogue for a longer time and hence you reap the benefits even during your writer’s block.

I have noticed that most of the users are posting bytes more than the number of blurbs, which could be another reason for not making good money, specially since these bytes are mostly either rehashed or stolen articles and not original. In my personal experience, the only bytes that last long and make money consistently are the ones that are “original” and well-written ones that too on a relevant topic that may be evergreen. Instead, posting more number of blurbs on various topics get more reads and more money through the clicks generated and a wider audience.

If you write a couple of good articles chances are that some people will grab your feed and then you have it made, since you have just created guaranteed readers for yourself.

You have to be careful about using four letter words and reference to words that are vulgar and obscene need to be avoided. Google puts in ads at the beginning as a default, which you may be seeing immediately after you publish your post, but after the next indexing cycle Google will replace the ads with Public Service Ads (PSAs). PSAs are not limited to hurricane relief kind of ads. Even normal looking text ads may be PSAs. So irrespective of the number of reads you are making zilch. In the longer run Google may even ban you for repeatedly posting objectionable content.

Another thing you ought to remember is that the keywords in the Meta tags box are important and required. This is one of the indicators for search engines. I came across someone who was not putting the keywords and complaining about the ads not being contextual.

The referrals are a nice way to keep the Adsense account ticking. Get people under you so that you can reap some of the benefits of introducing them to such a wonderful site and also their hard work and luck.
