NY City Mayor Bitten by Groundhog

NY City Mayor Bitten by Groundhog

New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg must feel like he's getting hammered on all sides. Now he's gotten the ultimate insult: being bitten by a groundhog on Groundhog Day.

Bloomberg was already getting flack from city workers and teachers over job cutbacks he had proposed to help close the city's budget gap. So he probably figured that a quick photo op on Groundhog Day would be a welcome break from meeting with bean counters and banging heads with the president of the teachers' union. Well, he was wrong.

Bloomberg was posing with Staten Island Chuck (full name: Charles G. Hogg), the official groundhog of the five boroughs, when Chuck bit hizzoner's finger, drawing blood. Bloomberg applied a napkin to the wound until he could get a more appropriate bandage on the finger.

Bloomberg took the encounter in stride, joking that Staten Island Chuck might be a "terrorist rodent," and that he may have been trained by al Quaeda.

Watch out, Chuck, Guantanamo Bay probably has room for an unruly, ill-tempered groundhog. As the singers in that Bud Light commercial sing, "You're a fiesty rodent!"

Shoe tossing

I saw a photo of a shoe monument that's been put up in Iraq as a tribute to the shoe-tossing incident against Bush. The journalist who tossed the original shoe, however, is still being held.

I can think of few targets more appropriate for animal bites

If a human being is said to be voting with his feet, we could say that animals vote with their teeth. Although, you find few politicians bitten by sharks--professional courtesy. JOIN US IN TOASTING YOUR FUTURE SUCCESS!

Politicians getting attacked

this seems to be the new trend... starting with the shoe throwing incident at President George Bush in Iraq followed by another shoe being thrown at a Chinese dignitary recently on his visit to Britain and now a mayor being bitten by a Ground hog.... I particularly like the shoe throwing idea. Won't be surprised if soon all the people will be told to deposit their shoes at the door....! Wish somebody could do that to our politicians too...God knows they deserve it..But, knowing our politicians to be what they are..You will probably never see your shoe again...!

Ouch

Now that would have taken more than a napkin to stop the bleeding!

It could have been worse

He could have been mayor of Boston for that city's annual Black Bear Celebration at the Stone Zoo. JOIN US IN TOASTING YOUR FUTURE SUCCESS!
