Obama and Mccain

November 4th 2008 will be a legendary day in American history. This is the day that our nations new presidential candidates will be chosen to become the next official president. The two opponents are Barack Obama and John McCain. These two candidates are on two different parties
and have different views on running this country. This upcoming election could be Americans most important election so it is crucial for Americans to understand who they are voting for.
Barack Obama is on the democratic side and if elected president, he will the be the first African American to become president. Mr. Obama seems to focus on the economic crisis of America. Barack wants to offer the middle class tax cuts to help get the economy going again. The only downside is that there will be a tax increase for Americans earning an income higher that two hundred and fifty thousand. Also Obama wants to reduce energy dependency on other nations. In doing this Barack will open up more jobs to help run these “green” energy plants. By providing more jobs with creating our own energy Obama believes this should get our economy in good shape again. Lastly Barack Obama plans to decrease the cost of health insurance. Barack says he would like to have every American covered with health insurance.
John McCain is on the republican side and of elected his vice president, Sarah Palin will be the first women vice president. McCain’s actions for the economic crisis is to continue to have tax cuts for the wealthy. John believes in what is called the “ Trickle down effect.” Also John McCain would not decrease the taxes for the average American but he will give the oil industry a four billion dollar tax break. McCain hopes in doing this that the economy can get back to normal. Energy wise, McCain would like to do more offshore drilling and give breaks to the oil companies. John wants to lower gas prices so Americans can afford to spend there money other places. Also McCain want to give a health care credit to help all Americans get health insurance.
Obama and McCain both have the country best interest in mind. Obama’s plan to decrease our dependency on outside energy would save the country money and create more jobs. McCain believes that giving tax breaks to the oil industry would work better. Also John hasn’t talked much about decreasing out energy dependency which seems risky without doing so. Also McCain is planning on giving the American people a health care credit. If John did this he would tax health care for the first time in history which doesn’t seem to help Americans at all. Obama’s decreasing insurance cost seems to help out the average person.
There are so many ups and downs with these candidates it is important to be positive you are informed before you vote. November 4th will be a historic day in American history and it should hopefully be a start for some real change in this country. I wish both candidates the best of luck and please make sure you vote because every vote counts.
