Obama commits to allow Gay people serve in the military
posted October 11, 2009 - 1:13pmUS President Barack Obama has pledged to overturn laws that discriminate against openly homosexual military personnel, and to significantly improve rights for people in same-sex relationships. Barrack Obama reaffirmed an "unwavering" commitment to end discrimination against gay people, including the ban on openly serving in the military.< p>
The US could not afford to discharge people from its armed forces with critical skills, Mr Obama told 3000 people at the black-tie Human Rights Campaign dinner.
