Obama has stated that on his first day in office, should he be elected, he wants to give the military "a new mission - ending this war." Apparently, he has set a goal to have all combat oriented troops out of Iraq by 2010, but sending some into Afghanistan to focus on fighting Al Qaeda.

He feels that it's time for the Iraqi people to take care of themselves, while the U.S. focuses elsewhere.
