Ode To Cold Meatloaf

Ode To Cold Meatloaf

My momma has more skills than I can bring to remembrance at just one sitting.  But one skill that always brings joy (as well as moisture to my mouth) is her cooking ability.  She had no formal training, and definitely was NOT a slave to a cookbook.  But man-oh-man, can my mom cook!

(I haven't lived at home in many years, so this is mostly memory talking here.)  Meatloaf was one of her specialties.  And she had several different ways of preparing meatloaf, so that we never got tired of the taste.

But, it was my dad that made meatloaf one of my all-time favorites.  He never cooked it, but he had a way with a "cold meatloaf sandwich" that made the left-overs even better than the hot meal.

This poem sometimes brings a tear to my eyes - in remembrance of my dad.  Check it out.
