One lakh people will be displaced due to Mumbai Metro
posted November 9, 2006 - 11:40amMore than one lakh people’s life will be affected by the Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) project set to begin on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkoper stretch.
This project is 13 km long and it is the first phase, it is built by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG). The project will cost Rs 4000 to Rs 10000 crore
The government has call for the suggestions to the draft notice before November 20. With this notification nearly 85 lakh square ft of land will be acquired by the government, as even the people living in this stretch are unaware of this development.
The Bharatiya Janta Party has demanded the clearer picture of the Mumbai Metro Rail project; it has also said as area houses authorized taxpayers, the government must apprise them with the clear compensation policy, Sunil Mone, BJP Consumer Protection Cell Convenor said.
The Party is also trying to hold a rally on November 18 to highlight the issue.
