One Year Anniversary – Xomba and Google AdSense Earnings Report
posted April 24, 2009 - 3:27pmI had decided that I would no longer report my earnings and experiences with Xomba and Google AdSense when I wrote my last earnings report. Then I received a few requests to continue, so I will write at least one more article on our earnings.
The one year I have spent on Xomba has been one exciting and fun year. Yes, I made some money, but more than that I have met some of the nicest, most interesting, very caring, and truly creative people. I love logging onto Xomba and reading the latest posts, finding my buddies posts, and making some new buddies. Sharing our lives, our passions, our talents in a very well ran and productive community is a major part of my life now.
I have had the privilege of signing up a few of my friends which has been a blast to share this experience with them. Even more, I find each day, because of my posting the earnings reports, I get private emails at Xomba from the ‘newbies’ asking for advice and/or help. I enjoy helping them get their feet wet and on the path to earning some money writing for Xomba. So many of the Xombies that have been around for much longer than I, were, and are, still very helpful to me and to pass that along to others is very satisfying.
One of the things I have noticed in some of the newer members, or in friends I talk to about Xomba, is their conception that they have nothing to share, or nothing to write about, or that they are not writers at all. This could not be further from the truth. I ask, “What are you passionate about? What are your hobbies? What do you have knowledge about? What do you do day in and day out?” I thought I would post a very short list of some of the possibilities to write about.
Remember there are two types of articles:
(Definitions are copied straight from the Xomba FAQ’s)
Xombytes: A Xombyte is a term we use for a blog, article, or fiction that is submitted to Xomba. A Xombyte should be a full fledged piece of writing containing at least 150 words. It can contain links to other web pages but that should not be its main focus. Posts which use a link to another web page as its main focus should be Xomblurbs.
(150 words are very easy to write. To give you an idea of what 150 words looks like, since some people feel intimidated when I say 150 words, the first two paragraphs of this article are 127 words! Not a lot there, huh?)
(My explanation: A Xombyte is an article you write. You can quote other articles or other sources (giving credit where credit is due – plagiarizism is completely against the rules) but the main body of the post is your own writing about whatever you choose to write about as long as it follows a few simple rules).
Rules: http://www.xomba.com/Xomba_s_Posting_Policies
Xomblurbs: Xomblurbs are a social bookmarking tool that allows users to share links with the entire Xomba community. In a Xomblurb you can share a link to a website, article, blog, image and video.
(My explanation: A Xomblurb is a short article (at time of this post 25 words but soon that will change) that is a review or a summary or a short article about something else found on the internet and the link to that site. I post coupons and freebies. I have a short written note about it and post the link to it. Others post ‘blurbs’ about other things. Take a day or two to read others posts and make yourself familiar with the huge possibilities of what can be posted on Xomba.)
You can post either Xombytes or Xomblurbs or a combination of both. Most writers on Xomba post a combination of both.
What will you write about? That seems to be the block that pops up in the minds of some of the people I talk to. Again, what is your life all about? There are many categories on Xomba to choose from and if you cant find one that matches your articles there is the ‘grab bag’ category for you. What do you do with your life?
(This is a very short, off the top of my head, list. It is not all inclusive. You could add at least one thousand other entries to this list).
Mother? Write: Child rearing tips, save money shopping, recipes, house keeping tips, organization tips, skills, sick child care, school stories, life stories, and many more.
Gardner? Write: Plant identification, gardening tips, pest control, harvesting techniques, plant propagation, and any thing else that can come to mind.
Auto Mechanic? Write: Emergency fixes, what to look for, diagnostics, auto repair, and many things you know about that others would love to learn.
Sports Nut? Write: Game scores, game schedules, team stats, player stats, player’s lives, and any other sports related information.
Cook? Write: Recipes, cooking tips, what to look for in kitchen equipment, where to purchase exotic ingredients, celebrity chefs, anything to do with your craft or hobby.
Teacher? Write: Real life stories, teaching disabled students, navigating the school system, how to help your child’s teacher help you, language lessons, history, and the list of possibilities is endless for you.
Computers? Write: Software reviews, computer repairs, computer lessons and how to’s, helping people make the most of their computers is a long list of articles waiting to be written.
Crafts? Write: Knitting, crocheting, painting, wood working, macramé, fly tying, and any kind of craft you can think of can be written about.
Outdoors? Write: Hunting stories and suggestions, Fishing tips, Gun reviews, Camping recipes, Travel idea and suggestions, any articles concerning those things you love about the outdoors.
Accountant? Write:Tax strategies, investing, budgeting, money tips, and any thing else associated with your knowledge.
Television? Write: Movie reviews, programming interests, celebrity gossip, interesting tidbits about what you love to watch.
As you can see the possibilities are endless. I am sure if you just take some time to think about what your life consists of you can find a zillion things to write about. Every article has a reader. Every single article that is written and posted has an audience that is interested in what you have to share.
The next thing I wanted to bring up for my one year anniversary article is concerning this email I received from a newbie just recently. I received this email after a new member read one of my earnings reports. The quote is actually copied from the original email. I copied two parts of the email, leaving out the rest for brevity. I will not share the name or ID of the person who sent it (so please don’t email me and ask for it).
Just logged in to this site a few days ago,and posted a couple of articles. But,I don't think I have earned much from them.
So,I just need some help from you, regarding what exactly do you have to do to generate an income through Adsense and this site, like the one you claim to be doing ever since you joined this site.
I have to admit this private email bothered me. I see some people expect to post one or two articles and then make some really good money, and make it really fast. If you have kept up with my earnings reports you have seen it has been a slow steady month by month progression.
And.......
I WORK AT IT!
I am persistent and constant in what I post. I am on the computer all day long for other work I do anyway. I stay logged into Xomba at all times. I post a few minutes here and a few minutes there. If I had to figure up actual time, I would say I write and post approximately 2-3 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week. At least half of that time is spent in researching and finding items to post and/or the writing of the articles. The posting part goes pretty fast. The “working” on Xomba is something I truly enjoy though. It is a fun part of my day. It is not like “work” at all.
Fast money is not possible on Xomba. My first two weeks I earned nothing. The first earning entry on Google was a whole 37 cents. I was thrilled to see it. People have asked me how I am earning money on Xomba or how I started. The best thing I can tell people is to find your own niche. Write about what you enjoy. Be consistent and persistent. The most important piece of advice is to follow what the guides on Xomba instruct you to do. They know what they are talking about and that is what I did.
Getting Started Guide: http://www.xomba.com/getting_started

I guess that is enough history and instructions on how to make the most of Xomba, or my thoughts on it. Onto the earnings report:

I would have to say that one year with Xomba and Google AdSense has been very profitable and productive for me. In more ways than one.
I do have to add that there are many other Xombies who write each day on Xomba and who far exceed my earnings. I know there are many testimonials for you to read. My earnings are for someone who had no clue what they were doing when they started and I have just barely learned how to use a few of the more advanced items such as feedburner, widgets, etc.
I look forward to many more years of our association and meeting all the new members that are joining us each and every day.

I am thrilled with Xomba and AdSense and that was the reason for sharing. Ive seen so many 'scams' that to find something that really works is very encouraging. I wanted to let others know this is the real deal.
I'm Motivated
Thanks for sharing. Your article motivates me to do more.
I am glad the truth convinced you to join Xomba....Welcome!
So far my second year is going even better. I look forward to posting my second anniversary report. Xomba is amazing to me. Not only the potential to earn some income but the community of people are so interesting and alot of fun. The site is so well ran and very serious about what they do.
It gives me great joy to see someone join this community and add to it.
Welcome!
You are the reason
You are the reason I decided to join Xomba. I had heard mention of the site on eHow and decided to check it out. It looked OK, so I Googled "Xomba earnings" to see if there was any potential. Your reports told me that there was. I don't think for a minute that I could duplicate your success, but even a small portion of that added to the rest of my writings will help out. Thanks for the encouragement and best of luck to you in the remainder of your second year.
