Only memories are left - Tributes to Our Pet
posted September 13, 2008 - 2:10amYesterday, on 12 Sep 08 at about 2300 hrs, our most valued family member, who by her unstinted love and loyalty won us and kept us amused for over 8 years left us after a brief illness. Till her death yeaterday, we did not know how much she had come to mean in our lives. But when the vaccume is there after her death, nothing seem to fill it.
We have come to realise that our day used to start with her by taking her out for walk and her morning rituals and it would finish with calling her to our bedroom to sleep on her Durri (locally made carpet) with and acts of feeding her, playing with her, pamparing her thrown in, for remaining part of the day. For two to four Chapatis (Indian Bread) a day with a glass of milk or two, she gave everything that she could to us. No family member could imagine ever entering the house without paying attention to her, looking into her talking eyes, pating her on the head. No sir, there was no way you could bypass this ritual and enter the house, she would not budge.
No body dared to enter the bunglow without worrying about whether Donna is in-door or out-door and even when she was in-door, most people rang the bell and ran a few feet in anticipation on loud bark from her. Our children were never home-alone because there was Donna to take care of their safety and security.
I can go on endlessly about this nobel soul who taught care and compassion to the whole family, but I would end by saying that an era has ended in our household. Donna, you gave us millions of moments of joy in last nine years, after your departure our eyes will get moist thinking of you for many many years. We loved you and we shall miss you through out our life time. You meant so much to us. Rest in Peace our dear Donna.
