Oprah Winfrey Named PETA's Peron Of The Year

Animal rights group, PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has named talk show host Oprah Winfrey as it's Person of the Year.
Oprah Winfrey was chosen for this award by PETA because according to PETA president Ingrid E. Newkirk, Oprah Winfrey has used her "powerful voice to defend those without one".
Oprah Winfrey has used her show to uncover horrific cases of cruelty to animals in puppy mills and on factory farms. On one episode of Oprah Winfrey, her talk show highlighted the abuses that occur in puppy mills, which supply pet stores with puppies. Other Oprah Winfrey episodes revealed what life is like for chickens and pigs commercially raised on factory farms.
The PETA group will send Oprah Winfrey an award plaque naming her PETA's Person of the Year, along with a letter of appreciation.
Oprah Winfrey will join the ranks of previous PETA Person of the year award winners that include United States Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia and the founders of a cleaning product called Method, which is based in San Francisco.
