Our enemy, Satan

Our enemy, Satan

One of the hardest concept and greatest danger for both believers and unbelievers is Satan and his dominions. His strongest and most effective weapon against mankind is doing whatever it takes to make people believe he doesn't exist. Caricatures, childish stories, illogical premise, ignorance and plain negligence have done a nice job to help perpetuate the impression that Satan, as depicted in the Bible, our mortal and relentless enemy doesn't exist. Of course, all this leads to lowering our defenses against his schemes and attacks, and we become easy prey to his wicked works.

Satan, by himself, has no power over the physical world. He is a spiritual being and as such there is nothing he can do to use any physical means to do his works. There are only two ways he can affect us or damage us: 1. A cooperative host that doesn't believe he exists and by making fun and enjoying any claimed manifestations of his existence, become host and even welcomes him in his life; 2. A weak minded believer, insecure and unsure whether he exists or not who allows Satan to introduce ideas and suggestions in the mind of the believer and so, create confusion, doubt and incredulity which makes his traps of temptations easy to set.

Demon possession is a well documented fact in the Bible. And so are the schemes and tactics he uses in order to weaken the faith and trust of the believers. The battle is not in the world, the battle is between our ears. That's right, in our minds.

Satan couldn't care less about the unbelievers. They are his instruments and are harmless to him. His target is the believer.

The Only Place Satan Exists is All Human Minds (Believers & Un-)

And he never stops existing there—just like with God. Oh, you can--through the gift of free will--choose to do God's will; just as you can choose to accuse others of NOT doing God's (Satan's will, as seen in the book of Job). 'Satan' is just a title, like 'God,' 'President,' 'King,' 'Doctor,' 'Reverend,' 'Professor,' etc. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Echo the Universe & GET MONEY for Discussing the Wonderful World Above & the Beauty Around Us!

@Rycharde Manne--The Truth of Belief

That was the truth I was referring to. Religionists sort of take your "Something is true > I believe it is true > What I believe is truth"-sequence backwards. Maybe they start out 'forwards,' but 'the base-matter of tradition' (Big Mommy-&-Daddy Say So) entrains them with 'Mommy-&-Daddy Say this book says truth > I believe it says the truth > Thus what I believe is truth'. They grow up, find out they ARE 'mommy-&/or-daddy,' and are left to ponder 'why.' ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY SAVING THE DIALOG STARTERS!

theologic

mythman> firstly, what truth are you alluding to? Secondly, the burden of proof is all yours, not mine. Thirdly, the example you quote is a single event, and thereby a subject of history rather than natural science (unless you always have three fingers behind your back, in which case we're back to the previous sentence). Fourthly, there is no metaphysical reality - it is a fabrication of the theological mind. To see it in action take the following syllogism. X exists, I believe X exists, therefore my belief is true. That is the theological mind in a nutshell. Believe what you want, just don't tell me it's "really" true, as if adding an adverb makes it clearer or adds gravitas. @Rycharde Manne--But, of Course, the Truth Remains the Same

For example, I'm holding up three fingers behind my back. That remains true whether you see or don't, whether you can prove that I am or cannot prove it, whether you can prove that I am not or cannot prove that. That the thing about 'values.' They remain Republican no matter how corrupt the republic becomes. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY JOINING THE DIALOG WAKE UP!

@Publus-Martin123-Lm.--Argument-Against Is Almost Proof of Truth

(Fronm "The Doctrines and Practices of Nichiren Shoshu", Chapter 46: San Sho Shi Ma, the Three Obstacles and Four Devils) ... without fail, devils will arise. Were it not for these, there would be no way of knowing that this is the true teaching.... Something uncommon also occurs when an ordinary person {wakes up a little}. At this time, the three obstacles and four devils will invariably appear. The wise will rejoice while the foolish will retreat.(Gosho, p. 1184)
    The Obstacles are:
  • earthly desires (bonno-sho, the 'take what you can, give nothing back'-urges)
  • karma (go-sho, cause-to-effect)
  • retribution (ho-sho, the desire to see your causing-actions come to fruition)
The Devils (functions that rob people of life or do people some harm) are:
  • the devil of earthly desires (bonno-ma)
  • the devil of the 'five components' (on-ma, of form, perception, conception, volition and consciousness)
  • the devil of death (shi-ma)
  • the devil of the Sixth Heaven (tenji-ma, the one whose light blinds humanity)
I'm sure many of you are thinking, "Devils? In a Heaven? Heresy!" To which I reply in your language: "Baa-aa-aa-aa!" (Translation: Tighten your blindfolds!) ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY JOINING THE DIALOG WAKE UP!

@MJ Dakota--Who Wrote the Bible? The Fear of Satan

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying "Satan is the one we follow," but will you turn and face Satan when God tells you to? I do, and I find the holiness in him too. I'm not afraid to report that holiness in the same breath as Jesus Christ's holiness. I see the evil in Christianity, and am not afraid to report that evil in the same breath as that of Satanism ... they're the same evil. (That's not to say that all Christians are closet-Satanists, but rather that evil weeds grow in fertile fields.) ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY JOINING THE DIALOG WAKE UP!

Who chose the Words of God?

Imorovan wrote, "No one can pick and chose which parts of the Bible is believable and which is not. It is the Word of God and it is a whole which cannot be divided." But the words, books or cannons were picked through and chosen to be the Word of God. http://netministries.org/Bbasics/BBNOrig.htm or here http://www.ntcanon.org/ Check out the "writings" and read up on the "not included" Christian writings history. If others can pick and choose, why can't I? I would have to agree with wHATUP on "The Bible (any Bible) is not the "Word of God" as almost any preacher and theologian will tell you, it/they are "inspired" by God." The Bible was not written by God, but by others who were inspired to write their stories and beliefs, therefore the Bible is not the "Word of God". As for Satan, that is a name used to excuse "bad things" or "bad people". Face it, we are humans, we have free will, the right to choose. If we choose to be bad, immoral, than we have no one, no satan to blame, but ourselves or our lack of morals. I am a controversy. MJ

@wH.U-Wd.--The Word of God is More 'That-', Less 'What-You Read'

A very-short sermon: (Hold up a Bible} "This ..." (Place it/Slam It/Throw it Downward) "is NOT the Word of God; you'll find it when you read it, but not until you do ... and not unless you keep on reading it 'for the first time'." ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY JOINING THE DIALOG WAKE UP!

Martin123... I didn't see

Martin123... I didn't see any "personal attacks" either, for what it's worth. Imorovan... You say that you were brought up in a communist society, but what does that have to do with the points made here? I was raised as a Catholic and even went to Catholic school for 8 years...all while living in what is considered the country with the most freedoms in the world. Yet I do not believe what I was taught to believe as a child. I know all of the arguments from those who believe and none of them have convinced me that any of it is true. So, what's your point? We can all share our backgrounds and claim that no argument will change our mind, but it still leaves us with the same problem: None of us have empirical evidence (verifiable by observation/experimentation) of any of our claims concerning the existence of a god or gods. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.
