Oval, Final Test First Day

9th Aug 07

Oval, England

India was on 316/4 at the end of the first day of the last and final test match against the hosts England. Karthik and Waseem Jafer put the foundation of the Indian innings with a 60 run partnership. Dinesh Karthik played a eye-catching knock of 90 runs and showed a good temperament as a wicket keeper batsman for the Indian side. Not to mention his tremendous play in the last 2 matches. As the matter of fact Karthik has proved to be a better wicket-keeper batsman than M.S Dhoni at least in test cricket.

V.V.S laxman on the other hand reached a milestone in his career today at Oval scoring 5000 runs in his test match cricket career. He played some outstanding shots showing that he might be the one who can bag the best batsman of this match. Unfortunately Indian cricket is seeing giant record books with some unreachable targets for the coming generation of cricketers, however Indian team has failed at number of occasions playing as a team unit and winning tournaments and cups for there country.
