Oxford University Releases Top 10 Most Irritating Phrases
posted November 11, 2008 - 11:46am"At the end of the day" comes in at number one on Oxford University's list of the top 10 most irritating phrases.
I tend to agree with the Oxford University's list, especially with such gems as "shouldn't of" instead of "shouldn't have" and "24/7".
One phrase that I would have loved to see make the list? "It is what it is". That drives me crazy...what the heck does that mean? Do I really have to accept at face value whatever "it" is? Does this phrase let you off the hook of explaining yourself?
(Great, now I need to page back through my posts...I may have used the very phrase I now decry! How dare I complain!)
