Pakistan Cricket is at a cross roads; in such a parlous and hopeless siutation; caught in a quagmire; slithering down the abyss not without some cogent reason. Our miserable lot is a the natural corrollary of years of maladministration, mis-rule, corruption, nepotism on part of the powers that be combined with a pathetic indifference on part of a comatose public opinion. We set new standards in ineptitude, short-sightedness and fecklessness hence being made to plumb new depths of despair, infamy and humiliation.

Despite the desperation mingled with disbelief; solicitude tinged with apprehension; sense of urgency laced with haplessness; all the loud talk about efforts being afoot to save the sinking vessel is mere rhetoric! By putting old wine in new bottles, regurgittating the trite and obsolete mantras again and again; changing the trade named while selling the same decrepit product how do our effete adminsitrators hope to resurrect our dwindling fortunes, is anybody's guess!

But inspite of the aura of doom and gloom enveloping our cricket; with setbacks, reverses and scandals being a norm; with our grounds presenting a deserted and desolate look; with the coffers of the board drying up steadily; with no international victory of note coming our way in a long time; with our country becoming a No Go area and our players persona non gratas at international leagues-what should we do to stem the rot, arrest the downward spiral. restore stability and regain our lost pride and everything else?

When confronted with such a ragantuan challenge; with odds stacked heavily against us; the die cast firmly against us, time for us to cross the rubicon and cut the Gordian knot the way it should be cut! Most complex and intricate of problems can be solved through a well directed, consistent and simple approach! It takes a while to complicate things, but not that long to unravel the knots, provided the hands working on untying them arent venal and weak!

With the modern cricketing landscape being dominated by BCCI-IPL-and the cricketing praxis being written in Hindi and the centre of gravity shifting to a new resting place just 100 miles from Lahore; time for us to evolve a home grown, indigenous and quintessentially Pakistani solution to our financial, administrative and playing travails!

Time for powers that be to purge our ranks from humbugs, job seekers and wafflers and stacking them with competent, dedicated and honest invididuals who can then go on to lay foundations of a well oiled, resilient and progressive institution.

Time for our seths and business powerhouses to loosen up their purse strings; time for our extremely rich and well spread diaspora to pump foreign exchange into our most exportable commodity. Time for our cricket board to make merit and only merit the sole criterion for selection at every level of cricketing activity!

Lets place the best man for the job at the helm! Lets chalk out a comprehensive strategy at converting this nodescript and modest cricketing tourney into a lavish and majestic sporting gala!

We always have had the human resource; time for us to acquire enough financial muscle to help materialize this dream of ours!

There are people who are ready to pump in hundreds of crore of rupees into a venture like this; they would bankroll the Pakistan Super League, but they need direction, a sound business plan and assurity of competent organisation!!!

Such is the queer scenario presenting itself to us; there are many givers, but no takers! investors galore but no entreprenuers! too many Indians but not enough chiefs!

Pakistan Super League can be made to work; it can set the work on fire, it can become the biggest blockbuster of the year! We know where the money is, we know where the human resource is, we know where the audience is, we know where the revenue is going to come from...then what is stoping us? Lack of leadership and vision!!!!
