Pandan Coconut Agar Jelly recipe
posted June 9, 2009 - 2:24amAgar jellies are common treats and desserts in Asia. Today, i am going to teach you how to make the most common type pf jelly. Agar powder can be found in most Asian stores. Agar powder is the vegetarian alternative to gelatin, and it also sets at room temperature. A great snack for kid and adults through out the year.
Another thing to note is that agar contains a lot of fibre. By eating some agar jellies before meals would also make one feel fuller, hence eating less at meal. Thus, it has a slimming effect too!
ingredients:
1/4 tspn pandan essence/flavouring
10g agar powder
750ml water (room temperature)
250ml coconut milk/ cream
250g sugar
instructions:
1. Bring all the ingredients above to a boil using medium heat, then turn it down to low and continue for 2 minutes.
2. Switch off stove. Leave the mixture to cool for a few minutes before pouring into decorative moulds.
3. After the jelly has set in room temperature, put the jelly with the moulds into the fridge.
4. Leave for a minimum of 3 hours. Finished product can be kept in the fridge covered for 3 days.
