Parkinson's Disease

Patients who are diagnosed with Parkinson disease; a neurological disorder that causes tremors, rigidity, and difficulty moving are invited to dance in order to help their condition.. Research is indicating that dancing may assist Parkinson's patients in their flight to live a healthier happier lifestyle by lifting their spirits as well relieving some of their symptoms. Recently the Rush University Medical and the Hub bard Street Dance Group in Chicago, Illinois started a dance program for Parkinson patients that meet weekly. The sessions are free to participants and the teacher is a professional dancer who volunteers to teach the class. There are similar programs available to patients in other parts of the United States. Researchers feel that this will be a great step toward improving mobility, aid in research and providing great opportunities for patients. In addition, the research will provide valuable information into this condition and treatment options. How promising for Parkinson patients! I for one, am excited about the possibilities and do hope that the exercise program and research provides valuable answers. What about you?
