Participate in the Great World Wide Star Count!

US National Oceanic and Atmospheric AdministrationGet ready for the 3rd annual Great World Wide Star Count! From October 9th to the 23rd, 2009, you can help gather data about the light pollution and the quality of your night sky. In 2007 and 2008 over 31,000 people in 60 countries submitted reports about their nighttime sky. Will you be one of them this year? It is fun, educational, and easy. Just download the small Activity Guide available in eight languages. The guide provides instructions for observing and reporting star counts and lessons in star magnitude.

How many Xombie star gazing enthusiasts will participate this year?

Great WW Star Count

We didn't have anything to report except "no visibility due to cloudy skies".  We were gone away from Thursday to Sunday and actually could have done it from a different location but didn't think of it.  Oh well.  We will also try again next year.

Stargazing

I love looking at the night sky, JennyHeart!  However, seems like whenever there is a major sky event, all we get are cloudy skies and can't see a darn thing.  We have missed more eclipses and meteor showers.  I have yet to see the Northern Lights.

Didn't particpate this year but may well give it a go next year!

Love this

This article has encouraged me to want to look outside night and enjoy the stars in the beautiful night.. Thanks!

Countdown to the Great World Wide Star Count!

Only four more days before the Star Count begins!  Have you gotten your activity guide yet?  We did!  However, the weather prediction for the next week doesn't look very nice.  I wonder if we will be able to see any stars through the cloudy skies.  <sigh>
