Israel was a nation for many centuries and had defined borders and territory. The Roman Empire destroyed the nation and scattered its people, even to the point of destroying all imperial maps that depicted Israel as a state and replaced them with maps that the whole area was named Palestine.

Palestinians are descendants of the Philistines, who historically occupied the territory known today as Gaza. Therefore, Palestinians have no claim to other territory than the one which was historically theirs.

WW2 and the aftermath, plus the persecution of the Jews especially in communist Russia and other countries, have prompted the Jews to return to their homeland and take possession of what was, is and will continue to be their rightful place on the planet. Israel has not displaced anyone from their rightful territory, namely Gaza, but it took possession of its rightful land.

I should have expected fundamentalists to come to the defense of those committing genocide. Israel was created on lies, particularly the fact that the Ashkenazi Jews who squatted in Palestine and demanded international recognition are not descendants of the Biblical Israelites and, therefore, have no blood ties to Occupied Palestine. The Palestinians, however, do have blood ties for several generations going back.

The apartheid state of Israel is an abomination to morality and common decency toward human beings. For all the Jews who have taken over Palestine claim happened during the Shoah, they claim the moral high ground while committing Nazi-like atrocities on innocent Arabs, including torture, random targeting of Arab children with sniper fire, harvesting organs of Arab prisoners, bulldozing of Arab homes and farms, and a continual disregard for the human rights of Arabs and the United Nations.

If the American people knew just half of the atrocities Israel commits routinely against the Palestinians, there would be no more foreign aid for Israel and there would be an immediate expulsion of the Israel-First dual-citizens from our own government and as lobbyists, bribing our elected officials.

I consider fundamentalist Christians blindly following the in-God's-face abomination of Israel and disregarding the teachings of the Bible to be the greatest threat to our country's future. Our government's entire Middle Eastern policy is based on being Israel's bully to absorb the damage that its anti-Arab ambitions would cause it.

The United States and Israel are the only two countries with large amounts of troops in the Middle East that also have nuclear weapons, yet the U.S. government has invaded Iraq, falsely claiming it to have nuclear weapons, and now stand poised to attack Iran with nuclear weapons, despite the FACT that Bush's own CIA says Iran has no nukes, Iran says Iran has no nukes, and the international organization of IAEA says Iran has no nukes.

This is moral cowardice on part of the fundamentalists, who want to commit genocide in the name of "God" to get the Rapture to happen more quickly so they can "check out" without having to live with the consequences of their actions. Cowardice.

You don't contribute anything to either the OP or the comment thread, but you make demands of other people. Unlike you, I've actually walked my talk. You've contributed to the defense of this country...talk. If you believe so strongly in endless wars for Israel and in what the U.S. government is doing in the Middle East, then why aren't you down at the recruiting station right now? In fact, people like you should have already been in uniform since 9/11, which would give you almost seven years of military service, which would be 70% of the way to the time I served in uniform.

You align yourself with what you believe to be the winning team so you can strut around saying "we did this" or "we did that" when, in fact, the "you" of "we" is non-existent.

You want a solution, tough guy? Okay, I want every single one of you warmongers to go down to your recruiting station and enlist for Iraq or Afghanistan duty. Spend time in-country actually living among the people who lives you now hold so callously. Then, if you survived or haven't been left to die on a Medevac aircraft flying to Landstuhl in Germany so Bush doesn't have to count you among the dead in Iraq, and only then can you come here and continue to attack me over my position in favor of peaceful diplomatic solutions to the Middle East.

If you really believed what you write, then you'd be at the recruiter. The fact that you libelously attack me without any basis in truth or reality only goes to show the lengths you will go to in avoiding "putting your money where your mouth is".

The book by George Orwell which most closely describes the political reality in the U.S. and Israel is 1984. Those who have the means to do so are rewriting the history books to reflect their political desires, at the expense of truth. When the masses are TOLD what to believe by constant repetition via controlled media outlets, the government, the churches, and especially the schools, it makes my job seeking the truth more and more difficult. I am often dealing with people who cannot fathom the depth of the story because they've been led to believe an alternative, untruthful, politically expedient version.

Am I invoking the name of God by saying that genocide is okie-dokie as long as other people are doing it in God's name and the truth is less than important that what is good for a few rich robber-barons of the U.S. military-industrial complex? Pray tell, where did I EVER say that?

The truth is there were Palestinians living on that land farming and developing an infrastructure for several generations before 1948. After World War II, they were displaced by people who just stole their farms, ranches, and houses outright, invoking a spurious ancestral claim without any consideration for the FACT that the very Palestinians displaced have a CONTINUOUS blood claim to the land.

You and Eggs step in and say that the Palestinians don't get to keep their ancestral land because the Jewish non-ancestors of the Israelites say so. You ignore the very real atrocities committed by the Israeli government and military against Palestinian women and children on a regular basis. You brush those atrocities aside as easily as you brush aside the genocide of innocent Arab Christians in Lebanon by Israel or of innocent Arab Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan by the U.S. government and military.

Unlike you and others on your team, I am against genocide. I don't try and rationalize it away by claiming that it is sanctioned in some old book, especially when it isn't.

Why don't you take some time ad read and learn the historical facts that prompted Israel to return to their land, their country, their nation, their inheritance? Oh, dumb me, I know, doing so would collapse your biased opinion and will ruin your argument and agenda.

What you should be asking is why Muslim men and women would feel compelled to "strap on explosives and blow themselves up". Let see. The Israeli military uses artillery, rockets, bombs, machine-guns (supplied by the U.S.) to level buildings and murder Palestinians. IDF snipers also target Palestinian children deliberately.

Against those daily killings by the Israeli military, which are not reported by Israeli television and certainly not by U.S. television, there are sporadic bombings by Palestinians that get splashed across the television screen and the front page of the newspaper front page to show the world that poor innocent Israel is once again the hapless victim of evil Palestinian terrorism.

If you actually cared to get the whole story, you would read Al Jazeera and other Middle Eastern publications that don't just print what Washington and Tel Aviv want them to say. If you want to get the whole story about what is happening, you would read from all sources and not just those who support American/Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.

So, the questions you should be asking are:

• Why does Israel use artillery, rockets, helicopter gunships, jet fighters dropping bomblets, and heavy machine gun and cannon fire against civilians throwing rocks?
• Why does Israel harvest organs from Palestinian prisoners?
• Why do Israeli snipers target innocent children?
• Why did Israel bomb Lebanon civilians (with U.S. blessing) for almost 4 weeks, killing hundreds if not thousands of Lebanese Christians, for the killing/kidnapping of only 5 IDF soldiers?
• Why do you consider Russia's counterattack against Georgia over South Ossetia to be "disproportionate" if you believe what the Israeli military did in Lebanon was okay?
• Why does Israel, who has a historical hatred of Arabic peoples and a history of preemptive attacks on Arabs, get to have nuclear weapons while you consider Iran, who has no nuclear program or desire to use them, a mortal danger to the Western world?
• Have you actually every spoken with someone from Muslim countries and gotten their perspective on life, so you can say first-hand what and how they feel about the U.S.?

lmorovan, it's easy to sit behind your computer and applaud the outright genocide against Muslims. It's even easier to be happy to send others to die for the policies YOU support. It is easiest to ad hominem attack those who have actually done something in defense of the rights and liberties you now enjoy, just to cover for the fact that you have not made the same sacrifices.

I am against genocide. I am against policies that send other people to die for the material gains of a few. I have also spent ten of my forty years in uniform, defending what I believe in. Whether I agree or disagree with the current policies of the U.S. or Israeli government, I've at least earned that right to speak my mind freely. The fact I've been personally attacked by you ad hominem for what I've earned speak more about how much you value the sacrifices that men and women have made throughout American history.

Your questions are so absurdly one sided and out of touch of the reality of the world we live in that is not even worth commenting on them, not to mention answering them. You build up your questions carefully that no reasonable answer can be given.

I honor and respect the sacrifice our Armed Forces have done and continue to do for us, but from your writings and sentiments you express, it is my opinion that you were and are a disgrace to our military. Not to mention your disrespectful and militarily degrading attitude toward the Commander in Chief. I have reasons, after reading your words, to question your reasons to serve, because your attitude brings dishonor to our military.

How were you discharged? If I read you correctly, it was not in quite an honorable manner, which, obviously, have caused you to develop such an anti American attitude.

I will stop addressing you in any way or manner, because I hate to bring out truths that cast a shadow of doubt regarding where your allegiance stand. So i propose a "truce", you get off my back and I will do the same. If you are a man of honor, you will comply. Any subsequent post addressed to me, directly or indirectly will confirm that you are not a man of honor.
