Pearl Harbor day veterans rememberance ceremony at Annapolis on December 7 2007
posted December 7, 2007 - 5:28amToday December 7 2007 at noon, The Pearl Harbor day veterans will lay a wreath in Annapolis to rememember the day of Pearl Harbor, they will read the names of their comrades of World War II.
The number of Pearl Harbor survivors decreased over the years, now fewer than 75. The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association in Annapolis, Maryland, once had as many as 300 members. Never so few veterans as now to remember the Pearl Harbor day.
President of the group Clarence Davis says he is the "youngster of the group" at 84 years old.
David was only 18 years old when he was working on the ship, the USS Medusa.
The day of December 7 1941 left behind 2,403 deadm 188 planes destroyed and a crippled pacific fleet with 8 destroyed battleships. Although momentarily shocked at the attack, the Pacific Fleet's aircraft carriers and submaries remained unscathed, these assets formed the foundation for the American response that led to the total destruction of the Japanese empire four years later.
The ceremony is on the same day and at the same time, at noon, every year dec 7
because that was the day and time when the attack occurred.
The Pearl Harbor Survivors Association will hold its rememberance day ceremony at noon today at state's World War II Memorial, Route 450 at the Naval Academy Bridge, 1920 Ritchie Highway, Annapolis, december 7 2007.
