Pedicure Do's And Don'ts
posted April 14, 2009 - 7:28amA fresh pedicure makes you and your feet feel good. There are some do's and don'ts of pedicures that you should know so you and your feet will remain feeling good.
Do ask the manicurist who will be performing your pedicure about hygiene practices. Instruments used for pedicures should
be properly sterilized, being removed from sterilizing liquid solutions or an autoclave just before they are used on your feet.
For the manicure items that can't be sterilized, like toe separators, emery boards, etc., do bring your own to the nail salon. You don't want to contact a nasty toenail fungus from re-used, un-sterilized pedicure items.
Do bring or wear flip-flops when going for a pedicure. It takes a while for the polish to dry on your toenails, and you don't want to chance smudging the polish.
Do make sure your manicurist is starting your pedicure polish by applying a clear base coat prior to the colored nail polish. A clear base coat will protect your toenails from being discolored and stained by the colored nail polish.
Do maintain the fresh pedicure look by exfoliating and moisturizing your feet between pedicures. Do make your toenail polish last longer by applying a clear top coat of polish every 3 days.
