Perfect Body - Coming Soon? Fat-Sensing Hormones Might Fight Obesity
posted November 30, 2008 - 12:20pm
A little hormone called N-acylphosphatidylethanolamines," or NAPEs, is responsible for preventing us from tripping over our own feet and running back to the table for more, more, and more food.
Now, scientists are working to isolate this group of hormones as a consistent appetite suppressant in the treament of obesity.
Tests are currently underway on mice, but scientists expect to work their way up the species chain and believe the closer they become, in testing, to humans the better the treatment will work.
Human trials could begin in the not too distant future, and, for me, well, like everyone, I want a perfect body, so, I hope the scientists hurry up!
