PETCO Animal Supplies Inc., a specialty retailer of premium pet food, supplies and services, announced that it has been acquired by private-equity investment firms, for $29 per share of its common stock:

Texas Pacific Group
and
Leonard Green & Partners L.P.

PETCO will remain under existing management team.< p>
