PGA Wives and Players Give at TPC Event
posted May 10, 2008 - 5:12amNearly a dozen children with life limiting health conditions and their families enjoyed a morning of fun and golf at TPC in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This event was courtesy of the PGA Tour Wives Association.
After all was said and done on the morning of May 6, 2008; many of these children and their families returned home with memories of a very special day. Community PedsCare; a children's hospice and palliative care service and part of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, benefited with a $50,000 donation.
Robert Garrigus, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Fred Funk, Ben Crane, Calvin Peete and Tim Clark all took time off to particpate in the event. Jim Furyk, Davis Love, and Fred Funk provided the majority of entertainment which had the children laughing.
PGA players' wives paired up with the kids and their families to ensure there would be no break in the excitement. Tabitha Furyk is a Community PedsCare committee member and helped arrange the event; which is a first at THE PLAYERS Championship.
The PGA Tour Wives Association spends over 40 weeks per year on community and charity activities throughout the PGA communities. Their webiste is located at http://www.pgatourwives.org.
