Phone Calls Attempt to Raise Anti Obama Sentiment
posted September 14, 2009 - 8:52amAmerican’s need to start using their own brain.
I just hung up on a young lady claiming to be from a newspaper with a one question survey. I seldom answer surveys, but since it was one question and she sounded so nice, I thought why not. She informed me that there was a message from some person I had never heard of before first and then put a recording on the phone. The recording told lie after lie about President Obama such as him funding a terrorist group to just short of saying he is turning the country into a socialist state. I am sure there are those who will say he is, but I can’t be responsible for your brainwashing. I strongly disagree. When the young lady returned to the phone, I informed her that I did not want to be bothered with untrue fear mongering again and wanted to be taken off the call list. She said OK in a hurt voice and hung up.
I probably received that call from a group that assumed that since I am in a republican state that I would agree with the call or at least be easy to sway. They guessed wrong. In fact, I am just about ready to defect for someplace northern and colder such as NY where I was raised so I don’t have to hear day in and day out how angry people are that Obama was voted president. I had to know more about the caller.
After doing a search on the phone number I found the source of the call. It is from Dick Morris from Fox News. I won’t mention the book he was trying to sell in the call as I won’t add to his marketing scheme. The group that Dick is whipping up into a frenzied lynch mob in an effort to oust our president is Citizens United. This website spews lies and calls for resignations. The website supports the deluded rantings of the likes of Gingrich, O’Reilly, and Limbaugh who certainly have their purpose in the world, to ask question and make people think. The fact that they call my home and try to tell me how to think however enrages me.
The information from these same phone calls can be found online. I found them and information that refutes some of these claims at fact-check.org. At the most, they are half truths. But if you are into that kind of thing, you can go for your daily dose of nonsense at Citizensunited.org. If you are going to believe all of the anti-obama rhetoric on those phone calls, then don’t bother fact checking or ever thinking for yourself again. You’re not going to believe the truth anyway.
If you want to fight phonecalls such as this, demand that you be taken off their call list and let them know that you do not support their call. Don’t watch Fox News exclusively for your political news, but instead a broad sampling from both them and MSNBC, and other news stations. Talk to who you don’t believe with and express your own honest opinions without just repeating the same hate filled information that is fed to you through these phone calls and internet rumors. Learn to question those you are following as well as those you are against. Only then will the real truth be revealed.

Phone calls
Great article! It makes me equally mad to get e-mails which are full of third hand information about someone who "knows this or that about Obama" as a fact, or the ever popular one about a conversation overheard in Blockbuster about Obama where two Muslim men were stating that he was "one of them" and his wife abided by Sharia law, blah blah blah. I say "Snopes.com before you forward it on" Snopes.com is a great site for debunking most of this craap. Thanks again for the article.

So true! Fox News guilty again!
Excellent article! I too live in the south and get recorded messages from these type of right wing extremists and I have no idea how I got on their list. Like you said, I guess they just take their chances and assume they'll get a large sampling of conservative paranoid Fox News watchers by just cold calling. My area has grown over the years with an influx of northerners and west coasters and we definitely have changed the demographics of the voters. The long time conservative locals are not too happy about it either. At least the voting population in my area is becoming more "fair and balanced" to borrow a catch phrase from a network who refuses to live up to its own slogan.
