Photos on the web are NOT Free to Use

Everyone with a computer and an internetconnection can reach a website. On any website you will mostly find some kind of images or photos. Although you can see these images without any kind of permission from the maker of the images or the photo, this does not mean that you can use this photo or image for something else. So you cannot put this picture on your own website. You cannot sell that beautiful photo you found on the internet. You cannot print a picture in a book you are publishing.

WHY NOT?
Well, because all these works are protected by Copyright laws. This goes automatically, so it is not necessary to explicitly state this right on the website.
If you want to use this image, photo or other work, you will have to ask for Permission form the maker of the work

IS THIS ALWAYS THE SAME?
No, some works can be used for your own purposes without permission. This is the case for very old works, and for images and photos that have been released in the public domain by the maker.

I WANT TO KNOW MORE!
Ok, cool, the FreedomImage website contains more information about copyrights, public domain works and the different types. It also contains links to different sources of free images on the internet that you can use for any purpose.
