Phyllanthus Amarus - Herb Cure for Hepatitis?

Phyllanthus amarus is an indian herb that has been widely used in Ayurvedic medicines for over 2,000 years. Based on studies, it has been proven to cause antiviral effect and potent to hepatitis B virus. The plant contains alkaloids, lignans, flavonoids, fatty acids, vitamin C, and more.

Apart from India, this herb is also used for treatment in China, Cuba, Philippines, and Latin America. Not only it may help cure liver diseases but it also use as astringent, diuretic, eye treatment, and blood-pressure regulation.

Powdered leaves were used in the first clinical studies and later utilize juice extract. In 1988, 37 patients were given 200 mg Phyllanthus amarus three times a day for a period of one month. Fifteen to twenty days after the treatment revealed significant results where 22 patients or 59 percent no longer carry the hepatitis B virus.

However, western medicine is probably hesitant to use this kind of herb cure as in the case of many without further studies.
