PICTURE PERFECT: A PRIEST IN AN ADDICT

Do you smoke or drink? Have you ever tried and why not, or what’s your reason. I’ve leant a lot from the experience of others; some folks dedicate their lives to spliff, smoking like it’s a job and when you talk about life, love, or even religion they even know more than you do. Always wish they could just switch off the addiction but it doesn’t work like that. We all have our weaknesses, some its addiction and it is normally accompanied with ills. These ills escort us through our journey in life; the pain eats you daily, it’s not yet cancer but you cough like a baby every morning your chest hurts, your liver’s weak and can’t take any more alcohol, you spend so much on health and check ups.
Every thing in life has an inception, so how did it start; normally it’s a diversion for people looking for relief from stress, pressure, trauma, or even boredom but end up getting a temporary relief. It first probably tastes bitter with time I bet you can’t tell the difference it’s just too sweet for no reason. Life is full of struggles, we need to search deep I believe the strength to overcome, comes from within and never from a substance.
My friend John Doe is 25yrs of age he got ditched by his girlfriend, he never drank alcohol or smoked, one evening he walks into a bar and walks out as loaded a brewery filled with misery. Time passes he moves on its no more about a girl he wanted, it’s about a nagging wife at home, he keeps a late night with the guys from work drifting from one problem to another. Now he’s sixty playing cards with a friend and a gas tank besides him; filled with regrets of a sorry life he yells at his grandson. Knowing he can help prevent the lad from taking a simple walk down the path of adventure then a casual habit that will turn out to be an addiction.
It’s never a win-win situation, you’ve got to loose once you make a wrong decision but facing facts makes you the boss of the game; being in control within is reassuring. The past is gone it builds us into a better person, only losers believe and accept every word people say; when they say you can’t do this or no one can achieve that. Just pick whatever makes sense from the advice, you never know where a suitable advice comes from; sometimes a bar, a drunkard, a clergy, or even a gangster for everyone has an experience and life’s a collection of mysteries try not to misuse it.
Wrong choices, wrong company, its obvious you’re on your own aging every second more than folks out there of your age group. What can you do to help the youths falling into such wrong paths, they are just starting not to far from the shore; a prayer isn’t bad but a helping hand or a word of advice will come in handy. Learn from the mistakes of others, that’s the greatest mystery in life unfolded.
Issues come and go, but sometimes it gets a little more than what it seems and gets out of control. Many causes lead to addiction, some include loneliness, rejection from family or friends, heartbreak from relationships, insecurity and lack of confidence but mainly peer-group influence has the lion share in the causes of addiction. Gently it starts as a burden that is heavy and needs to be dropped, but the tiny line between being sane and insane isn’t clearly defined in such blue moments all you need just an easy solution. Nothing good they say comes easy, you choose the easy way out because you have issues and no one to trust and turn to, so you start something but secretly (drugs, alcohol, spliff, smoking etc.)
The first day you lighted your very first cigar, he was there when you inhaled your first taste of weed. When you had your first mysterious taste of alcohol or dope he was there and still is till today with you in everything you do, he sees all your acts and feels betrayed but can’t do nothing because he gave you the power of choice. He loves you and always will, why? Because he created you, knitted you in your moms belly and he still loves you and gave you the power of choice. Nonetheless, he wants you choose him to rule your life and allow him take control, so calm down and take that bold step in life, you can continue living your life with filth, disgust, and evil if you want too. Nevertheless, if you feel it as a burden and want to start a new life, you’re on a crossroad and the turn you make will not only change your life but also give you hope and a meaning in your everyday life. Before you know it your deep in it and just when that moral feeling comes and you feel you’ve got to stop, you always say; you’re tired, you’ll try facing facts you not getting any younger and what if you don’t get to see the rising of the sun or sunset.
Get ready for this facts, do you know that God’s omnipotent; his everywhere so he knows everything. Before your birth he new about your grave, before you think or breathe he knows and has planned a beautiful, solid future for you. Conversely, you have to play a tiny role and that’s Choice! The choice between right and wrong is yours and that is exactly what distinguishes the professionals from the amateurs, heaven from Hell.
After looking from that tiny hole through life, you’ll really get to be thankful to God for who you are and for allowing, you see and feel life as it is. Instead of complaining, you find your little way of helping such people. God is great and we should all learn to walk in his shoes since he treats us equally by allowing the sun to shine on us all and blesses us with free air to breathe and live to the fullest. Shit happens! To make us greater and better, so in all you do keep one thing in mind; what you have is what you need now. There are moments when we need something and we can’t have it. Not that we have bad intentions, like; you need a raise at work since you work twice as hard compared to your work mates or you’re not getting any younger and you really need a life partner or you’ve waited long for healing because you have carried one disease for years. All these are needs that want to be fulfilled, but sometimes we get so much into life that we feel we own it and deserve better.
So join the mature minds, the pearls and vessels of God. It’s not a matter of fate, religion, or how much crime you’ve done. What matters most of all is what you have to do now save your soul and health. It’s a personal decision because you have carried the burden alone and definitely, you know the consequences await you. If you continue like that, either; lung caner, brain damage, or worst of all you will lack trust and respect from people: family, friends, and even your siblings. You need to take that step now! Right now and not later: tomorrow, or when you have your last groove. No! It’s now just get on knees deep in your heart and start to pray to God, start from anywhere don’t hide anything He knows it all, actually He knows more than you do.
