Pink Toed Tarantula
posted September 30, 2009 - 6:08amI found this one, just in time for Halloween. You have to check this out, there is actually a pink toed spider. Yes, that is right, this is a Pink Toed Tarantula.
The pink toed tarantula, also known as a tree spider, inhabits the tropical rain forest. It is a venomous spider, however, it can be kept as a pet. If you are choosing this spider as a pet, you must handle it with caution!
The pink toed tarantulas are active during the day. The habitat should include many things to climb on such as branches, sticks, etc. so that they can build webs. They will build very extensive webs in the enclosure.
This spider is native to Brazil, Trinidad, Martinique, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela, and throughout the Amazon Basin. When kept in captivity this spider needs the perfect mix of humidity and ventalation, often making it hard to maintain a perfect envirnoment.
The Pink-toed Tarantula is an aggressive feeder. It will eat a variety of insect prey including adult crickets and grasshoppers. In nature they will prey on small lizards, however, this is not recomended for a spider in captivity.
