Places to Go Camping Near Idaho City

Idaho is one of the largest states in the US and is filled with great areas of camping opportunity. Idaho City is definitely a good area to camp in. Here are some campgrounds for you to peruse.
Anderson Ranch Reservoir
– Sporting cooler than usual temperatures during the summer, Anderson offers the residents of Mountain Home, Idaho a great place to spend a day or a weekend.
Boise Basin Area – The area around the Boise Basin has a very rustic feel to it. This used to be where many of the the miners from the Old West came and you can still see remnants of their work. The campgrounds in the Boise Basin are top notch. This is an off-shoot of the Boise National Forest.
Elmore Area Campground – Probably best known for their amazing sand dunes, the Elmore Area Campground offers a very Oregon Trail type of feel to their guests. Those interested in astronomy will adore the lack of light pollution from any nearby cities.
Gem Idaho Area Campground – Serving as a residential area for Boise, the Emmett Valley offers more than a few outdoor opportunities for the hearty traveler. In July, the Montour area hosts a three-day Indian pow-wow.
Heartland Area Campgrounds – This campground is very near the point of origin of both the Middle Fork of the Payette River and the South Fork of the Salmon River. This is some of the highest terrain in Idaho and a perfect place for a campground. Over ten campgrounds are included in the Heartland Area.
