I haven't followed this case very much but the punishment seems a little steep. Plaxico Burres took a plea bargain and pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon. To avoid the more serious charge that would have locked him up for over 3 years.  He shot himself in the leg at a night club in Manhattan. The 32 year old won a super bowl with the New York giants 2 years ago. His attorney said Burres would start serving his sentence immediately.
