Please don't call me "Sir"

Please don't call me "Sir"

I know I am getting older. Also, only 25% of the world's population is older than I am. I am however, not accepting my aging in a graceful manner. Unfortunately, even though the intentions are probably good, I do not like it when someone calls me "sir". It may just be that they are trying to be courteous, or polite, maybe showing respect, or it's just the way they were brought up, but it still irritates me. I do not go around calling people "lady, " or "ma'am" or "chic." I don't even say, "hey kid."  I would prefer just saying whatever and leaving off the "sir." If it is the policy of an establishment such as a restaurant, they could drop that policy and I would be one happier person. Even though the intention is not to make me feel old, the word "sir" does just that. I will eventually accept my aging at some point, but don't rush me, "young 'uns."
