Please, STOP with the Travis Barker Rumor Posts!
posted November 16, 2007 - 2:08amWe've all seen that folks on Xomba like to jump on the latest hot search topics to try to make money.
But all these posts about the rumors of the death of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker are just spreading what is, so far, a baseless rumor with no proof. < p>
None of these posts provide any information on the rumored death: they just report that it's a rumor and nobody knows any more.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that he is dead! To spread these kind of rumors shows a disregard for the sensitivities of Travis Barker's family, friends, and fans.
It seems the rumors came out of a few MySpace postings. Ummm, since when is MySpace a credible news source? Instead of posting blurbs asking if Barker has died, why not just go to the Web sites of CNN or any other reputable news source?
The rumors say that Barker died on the 13th--more than two days ago. If he had died and the wife had discussed the subject on MySpace (one of the rumors), the death would have been reported to the police.
I also just read that Barker's birthday is Nov. 14th... anyone else smell a prank or hoax here?
I realize it's tempting to try to ride the wave of a hot trend, but repeating rumors about someone's death without adding any new information on the subject just seems tacky.
Why not just wait until there's news one way or another?
I hope Travis Barker is alive. And I promise not to complain if there turn out to be 10,000 Xomba posts proclaiming 'Travis Barker is alive!'
