Please, STOP with the Travis Barker Rumor Posts!

Please, STOP with the Travis Barker Rumor Posts!

We've all seen that folks on Xomba like to jump on the latest hot search topics to try to make money.

But all these posts about the rumors of the death of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker are just spreading what is, so far, a baseless rumor with no proof. < p>

None of these posts provide any information on the rumored death: they just report that it's a rumor and nobody knows any more.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF that he is dead! To spread these kind of rumors shows a disregard for the sensitivities of Travis Barker's family, friends, and fans.

It seems the rumors came out of a few MySpace postings. Ummm, since when is MySpace a credible news source? Instead of posting blurbs asking if Barker has died, why not just go to the Web sites of CNN or any other reputable news source?

The rumors say that Barker died on the 13th--more than two days ago. If he had died and the wife had discussed the subject on MySpace (one of the rumors), the death would have been reported to the police.

I also just read that Barker's birthday is Nov. 14th... anyone else smell a prank or hoax here?

I realize it's tempting to try to ride the wave of a hot trend, but repeating rumors about someone's death without adding any new information on the subject just seems tacky.

Why not just wait until there's news one way or another?

I hope Travis Barker is alive. And I promise not to complain if there turn out to be 10,000 Xomba posts proclaiming 'Travis Barker is alive!'

Travis Barker

I think I mentioned it in the article... he's the drummer for a rock band called Blink-182. Maybe your grandkids do know of him, or at least the band. And Elvis is still alive, isn't he? ;-)

Who the heck is Travis Barker?

Okay once again I see content about some dude I have no clue who anyone is talking about. Who is this Travis Barker, what does he do? I see all these xomblurbs or xombytes about people I have no clue who your talking about. Guess I must be to old or not old enough. Maybe when my oldest two granddaughters turn 13 I will know more who is who. They are eleven and eleven and half now. If you wrote about Elvis or the Beatles I would know who they were LOL okay so now I am giving away my age. I am not a big T.V watcher and rarely see a movie so guess don't know a lot of the newer and up and coming celebrites and stars.

Hello everyone, stop and set awhile.

RE: Why stop writing...

Well, because it's all speculation, and it's spreading rumors that someone is dead, which seems cruel to people who know or care about the person. It wasn't my intent to create a lot of page views for this post, but to get people to stop posting about the Barker rumors. I think there's too much of people posting rumors and gross stuff on Xomba just to get clicks. Yes, this post has gotten more page views than any of my more recent ones, but it hasn't generated a single click... maybe because it's an 'opinion' piece, and the Google ads on it just aren't appealing to people. But that's OK, because my purpose was to get people to stop the Barker posts.

Why stop writing...

Why stop writing about it? As I see from all your recent posts, this post on "Travis Barker Rumor" got by far the most number of views!

hmmm..interesting...

Maybe somehow it started like a game of telephone. Where one person was talking about his birthday, and it slowly melted into convos that turned into he died. Or it's just those crazy myspace people that come up with that.. repost or a dead zombie will come to slash your face open at 12:03 Am stuff, lol

Travis Barker's birthday...

was Nov 14th, I just read on a news site... maybe just a coincidence, or maybe a sign that this might be a hoax.

totally

i was a huge blink 182 fan back in the day and i would be so upset if i read he was dead when he wasn't. thanks again for writing that though, it really made a good point, not just for my mistake, but anyone who's articles might come off as misleading. good stuff! :D

Thanks...

I wasn't angry, I just thought it would be awful if fans or friends were trying to find news on the rumor and see a headline saying that he's dead. Thanks, I think you did the right thing by changing it. I'll remove the mention of that headline from my post.

Hey Idle...

I see what you mean about it seeming a little cruel, that would make sense, I've edited it. I'm sure you would rather see it deleted, but people won't be confused if they just glance at the title. Good point! Thanks

geez......

geez... thanks for that. I simply titled it based upon what people were looking up, no harm intended. If you read the xombyte it is very obviously stated as a rumor, celebs have tons of rumors stated all the time about them, death, drugs, affairs, you name it. I'm only posted about popular searches. No reason to get angry
