Poetic protest to Xomba writing contest

Getting noticed
For writing
Is as easy
Or as difficult
As a fly getting
Splattered
On the
Wall

Flies are everywhere
Words are everywhere
Many people ignore
The buzzing
The rhyming
pests
But sometimes
That fly will bother
Just the right
Person
And land
At just the right
Spot
For the perfect
Smack
Of death

And there we have
A winner
Of our writing
Contest

It’s interesting
That the assignment,
What a struggling
Reporter
Needs to know
Before beginning
To write
An article for
A newspaper
Wasn’t honestly
Addressed in
Any of the
Winners

Obviously none
Of them have
Been
Editors
Well,
I think one was

Obviously none
Of the judges have
Been
Editors

And there’s nothing wrong
With that

More power to
Them all
For never knowing the
Tight ties
Low pay
Being-thrown-into-the-fire
Feeling

More power to
Them all
For not having
To fight
With the need
For the article
To have
Structure
Discipline
Organization
Clever way of entering
All necessary W’s answered
In flowing sentences
But in such a manner
That a non-journalist
Wouldn’t notice

A quick lesson
For any reporter
Is that it takes
Much more
Than a love
Of words
Expression
Poetry
Movement of imagery
And throwing down
The restraints of all
Rules
To be a good
Reporter

Ah,
no worries
congratulations to
the winners :)
