Poetry Review: Donald Hall's Selected Poems 1946-2006

This is an excellent review of Donald Hall's White Apples and the Taste of Stone: Selected Poems 1946-2006.

Hall is the current Poet Laureate of the United States and deservedly so. His book "Without" is one of my favorite book of poems.

Hall was married to Jane Kenyon, one of my favorite female poets ever. She passed away from leukemia in 1994, thereby causing Hall to write the afore-mentioned "Without" as a tribute to his wife.

Hall is also one of few poets who can write a decent sestina, a poetry form that I have tried only once due to its complexity.
