Points For Plagerism
posted September 8, 2006 - 7:52amIn my 20 years of writing and editing, I've had the pleasure to come across many people in the publishing world who were true professionals. I never had reason to question their quality of workmanship. Editors were mentors to their writers; sometimes it was the other way around. They wouldn't scavenge from each other to gain ideas, strength, or popularity. They were professionals in the true sense of the word.
But, in my short time of splicing a few words here and there to submit to this miniscule blog site in my spare time, I've met at least one editor here who could turn my ideas around completely. How interesting. How ironic. As we progress in time, we're supposed to better ourselves. Afterall, we have better technology, better means of education, better means of communications. However, there's still the editor who will blatantly ride the back of a writer to gain a little glee for themselves -- in this case, to add a few more points to their total credits, or to harass another blogger for whatever psychological reasonings they may have.
Writers -- whether for blogs, or newspapers, or magazines, or broadcast -- are bound by copyright laws. That's a true professional. Yet, at least one editor here believes that she's above that. That's right: Antonia Dwells, matron of mega points (all 2732 of them) claims the following (and I quote):
"Words are words, and humor is...humour?
In the blogosphere, I shall P-L-A-G-I-A-R-I-Z-E
till the end of the world."

First off, "till" is spelled wrong. The actual spelling is 'til. "Till" means to till the soil. 'Til is a shortened version of the word "until". Now, if she did not plagerize so much, maybe she would know how to write on her own power.
Plagerism is a crime. It is stealing. And make no mistake, any editor who is a TRUE editor would know this. And there is no one on this side of Heaven who can steal another writer's ideas with such gusto and call themselves an "editor" or a "writer"... and we give these plagerists points?
