Ponting's 99 in second innings - missing century
posted December 29, 2008 - 6:31amPonting's second innings would have taken him a step closer to bridging the gap between him and Sachin in terms of number of centuries. As a true lover of cricket, I would have loved it. But with passing years, I have become a fanatic of a religion called cricket. I called up my dad and said "Good News Dad, Ponting could not make it to the 100s." A senior professor in my college, who overheard my telephonic conversation, said - "I am also so happy that the gap still remains and to add it to he said "Sachin has lost so many centuries that it is befitting for his competitors to taste the same".
I have noticed that my behaviour has changed of late. If India is batting and I find that entry of my daughter to the room has increased run rate, then I do not care if she has examination or not, but insist that she remains in the tv room.
My question is: Are we breeding Sachin fan club or Cricket has gone to next orbit in becoming a religion of some sorts and we are members of "cricket fanatic club".
