Positioning Yourself in a Movie Theater for the Most Enjoyable Experience

Okay, so first off, theaters have many speakers. You knew that. But what you might not have known is that not everything coming out of those speakers is the same. Generally, the way sound systems at your theater function is that all the speakers are set up to either produce the dialogue of your film, or the soundtrack and special effects. The speakers are set up this way with the dialogue producing speakers set right behind the middle of the screen with the soundtrack and effects coming from the right and left. For this reason, you should sit as close to the middle of the theater as possible. What I mean by this is both from the left to right and front to back. This is because you will hear the dialogue much better. The dialogue producing speaker starts to emit at a very narrow range and then gradually becomes wider. The center of the theater is where it reaches its peak and starts to get narrow again. If you sit off to the side, the dialogue will be coming from the opposite side of the theater. Don’t make this mistake. Trust me if you get there early and nab those seats, you will have a much more enjoyable experience. Also, the soundtrack and effects will be more balanced out if you sit as close as you can to the middle.
