Russian Sumo wrestlers, Roho and his brother Hakurozan were banned from the sport after drug tests that confirmed marijuana use. Another Russian wrestler, Wakanoho, was arrested in August for possession of marijuana.

Top Sumo officials held an emergency meeting upon receiving the results of the drug tests and handed down the decision to ban the wrestlers.
