Prayer request for a good friend
posted August 13, 2008 - 12:21amIf you not adverse to doing so I want to tell you about our very dear and kind friend in need of uplifting, prayer, kindness and encouragement. With God all things are possible and a merry heart doth good like a good medicine. So here is the information for any so inclined to help or lift this wonderful man up in prayer. He is the kind of man who would give the last shirt off his back to help someone less fortunate.
Dwayne is a dear friend and has been very kind and generous to all he has ever encountered. He gave my son Dan a very nice car, gratis and has helped our family in many ways and other people as well. Has given things to children just because he loves them and could afford to be generous and loved seeing their smiles of joy. He lights up a room and is encouraging and uplifting to others. He served in military during the Vietnam war and now it is his turn to be up lifted and encouraged. Dwayne is 51 years old. His birthday is Sept 23rd.
In June he began having a lot of pain and not feeling well and recently has learned he has cancer of the liver. He is not nor has he been a drinker or used drugs since he was a teenager. He has had a good occupation as a plumber and thinks maybe some of the material he has worked with may have caused the cancer. He has lost about 35 lbs and is down to 135 lbs. He is not a large man but on the smaller side but still he is beginning to have problems in eating. Last Friday was his last day of work.
He is a Christian and believes God can heal him of this terrible disease and is holding out hope that God will heal him. He is going to go into the VA hospital tomorrow for some interveinious feedings and vitamins to help him regain some of his weight and strength and to see what treatment options he has. He will be there for about 3 days then will go home to where he is staying with his mother who is helping care for him.
Say some prayers for our brother in Christ Jesus that God will take this burden from this man and his family and restore his health. But that God's will is done. Dwayne said if it must be he can accept he may die and is prepared for that as well. If you want to write to him to give him encouragement send cards and letters to. He is very dear and special friend to our family as well.
