Prayers asked for my husband AJ
posted July 5, 2009 - 7:05pmI have not been on Xomba much lately and might have to take a break for some few weeks to come because my husband has found he has a serious life threatening right at the moment medical condition.
He is the love of my life, we hope to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary next April. I will be 60 in August and He is 60 and suddenly he is having heart problems. Congenital heart disease runs in his family. His Grandmother died when she was 44 leaving behind 9 children the youngest my Father in law who was age 2 and half. All my husband's uncles died of this dieseas so did his dad at age 68. None of them would see a doctor or get help or surgery.
When my husband was 46 he was having trouble and we found he had two large holes in his heart one the size of a 50 cent piece the other the size of a silver dollar. They were repaired and patched with gortex and we thought he would be good for many years. But he started feeling chest pains and shorteness of breath and some dizzyness recently.
He has an irregular heart beat called atrium flutter. The links below explains what that is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrial_flutter and this link give more details and what can be done. http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=52
My husband is very active and likes to do things for himself and he hates asking for help. He is a dear sweet man that would give the shirt off his back. He is strong and likes to do outdoor and physical things. He build our front porch and our carport to the house using a power saw and mostly large timbers he cut length wise into rough lumber. He is my fix it man, fixes cars, washers and driers and he shoveled our roof off 4 times last winter and the winter before.
He plows usually in winter with a large plow we have on an International scout and for smaller jobs a small bear cat 4 wheeler with a plow. Both broke last winter and it was about February he began to feel problems but did not tell me right away so as not to worry me. I wish he had said something then because he may have caused irreparable harm waiting for 5 months. I hope not. His heart does not beat right it is scary. He finally decide to tell me and see a doctor another thing he does not like to do.
He is a grandfather of 12 so far and my younger son and wife are hoping to have 1-2 more children we help 3-4 days a week and sometimes many nights caring for my daughters six the youngest is 1 year old and they all adore and love their papa and need him around. My youngest son 's little girl loses her pop-pop and would miss him terribly. As would our other grandchildren. Two others frequently come and stay weekends and some holidays. My husband is a vital part of their life. He is my life I would be devestated without him. I could probably go on but I do not want to have him gone so soon from my life, We have had some hard years and hope to have some better one's coming. Some things are transpiring in a few months that could make that possible but it is not yet and not 100% sure.
He saw a cardiologist on Wedensday July 1st. He is now on 324 mg of aspirin per day. He was taking vitamin e oil and omega3 salmon capules daily. The Gortex might have pulled away from his heart patch or he could have a blockage. We have been eating very healthy now though for 4 years not fatty foods or fried. Lots of salads, veggies, fruits, and good antioxidants and other things. He does not have high cholesterol or high blood pressure or diabetes all those tests came back that he is within safe normal range for his age.
The doctor said it is okay to do the swim aerobics because they are low impact cardio exercise in the water. However he is not to over exert himself or do anything strenuos in or out of the water. He has had chest pains all this past week and is doing all he can to not over do but we have so much to do necessary for survival and a lot we don't have a lot of help I am working on trying to get more help and have had a bit of success and promises to help in a couple of weeks but winter we will need even more.
We burn firewood in winter and it takes a good 10 cords, there is non one else much to help get it in. We have promise from some for a weekend or two to help getting in 2-4 pick up loads but we will need 9 -10 more after that. He has to still fix the scout plow for next winter snow. We don't know who will help shovel snow off the roof this coming winter if we get a bad winter like the last two. If it isn;t done the roof could cave in. But he won't be able to do it. We can't afford to hire anyone we have less than $18,000 income per year. He is worried and scared.
I am trying to not worry but it is a concern. The doctor said as it is now he could have a massive stroke or heart attack and it will be all over and it could happen any time especially if he over does, he is a walking time bomb. Some of the family have been alerted and we plan a meeting once we know the outcome and prognosis and how serious it is after July 1st examine. Our daughter is nearby and she and her kids have been helping some to get summer things done. Hubby has been taking rests from gardening or other things and pacing himself. But he hates it. So want prayers for him to accept what maybe and to learn to cope and for his healing if God so wills it. Most of all I want to keep my husband around for many years to come I don't want to just celebrate my 40th anniversary with him but my 50th and beyond.
He worries too if something happens to me the house is got a $54.000 mortgage and the payments $625 a month not to mention other bills and expenses. His job does not have retirement plan we have very little savings only a few hundred dollars. He said if I die you will lose the house and everything. I have been a homemaker and have fibromyalgia and other things so cannot work. I have no social security even build up so I would get as a widow he said about $695 a month. We don't have and cannot afford life insurance So he is stressing over that. I keep telling him God is not done with him yet he has work to do and he is not going to die there are lots of things can be done for heart problems now. Just be calm and keep rested and pace yourself we will know more this Wednesday and go from there.
He is worried if he has to have surgery Medicare won't cover it and we will be left with bill we won't be able to pay off. He is worried he might have to stop working as a substitute teacher. They don't pay medical benefits and the income is inadequate to buy any more coverage. Because his doctor said he might have to cut back on his working or stop working. So please pray for my husband AJ for his heart condition to stableize and he can keep working with the right meds and lead a pretty normal life for many years to come. He knows God will provide but he is scared right now and worried. He said he better make a will which we have been planning to do anyway. We had one but it needs updated a lot.
As it is over 20 years old and things have changed. Thanks for your prayers, love and understanding. God is good and I know he will come through. He is scheduled for an echocadiogram August 5th and we will know more then. What we need to do and how, why and the expense. I have seen the miracle of prayer work many times and know it can now as well. I will keep you updated as able and we know what is to come. I am hoping there will be very good news to report. Thank you all in advance for your love and prayers and posts.
