Prepaid Credit Cards Are Not A Way To Verify Age AnyMore

Prepaid Credit Cards Are Not A Way To Verify Age AnyMore

In this day and age it is so easy to get your hands on a prepaid credit card.  It baffles me why still today places like keen.com think that it should be ok for someone anyone with a credit card to be allowed to listen to the advisors online.  However they do.  The advisor can't even create an account without a credit card himself/herself.  This drives me nuts.

If you go to the front of the cash register of shopko, walmart, or any other major shopping center in your area where they keep the gift cards, you will most likely find not just gift cards but prepaid credit cards right there, that even a young child or teenager can purchase easily.

These cards are easily sold because they do not cause credit problems to anyone.  As a matter a fact, "a prepaid credit card can help raise your credit rating", I was told by a banker.   All you have to do is continue making your bill payments, keep your prepaid credit card in use, most likely a good way to do that is place money on the prepaid and make payments on the bills using it.  No money other than what you place on the prepaid goes out.  No monthly billing for it in other words.  It is a great way to get yourself out of a hole and to rebuild your credit score.

Now here is the downfall.  Seeing how anyone can purchase one and the sites today that say they use special ways to prevent kids from getting on are using credit cards to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that these people are indeed adults....  Guess what....  There age verification system is no longer valid thanks to the new improved prepaid credit card that even a child can purchase.  I have no problem with kids purchasing prepaid credit cards.  I think it is a great idea as a matter of fact, however, I do have a problem with any site that uses credit cards to verify age in a day and age when children can now purchase one for themselves.  If they say that they verify age through ID's then they need a different form of ID, something that links to an actual ID verification site or something.  Get the persons' driverlense number or ID number, but they need to come down and smell the coffee if they think that we are going to stand around while our kids use a credit card to access their site.  I demand a newer form of age verification from these people and you should too.

It is time for change.

Blessing Be Upon You and All that Is Yours,
