Preparing for a Beauty Contest
posted January 2, 2009 - 11:43amBeauty contests are not only something that adults take part in; young ladies also like to be involved in beauty contests, and their mothers are one of the reasons why young ladies are involved in beauty contest. Moms are also the ones who make sure that every little detail and small thing is taken care of.
If you are looking to enroll your young girl in a beauty contest, here are some ways to make sure that you take all the necessary precautions on how to make it as easy and stress-free a process as possible.
Don't Let It Be a Chore
Your daughter may not think that entering a beauty contest is as much fun as you do. The way you approach the idea of a beauty contest will have a lot to do with the way they approach it as well; when you infringe upon the things that your daughter is normally able to do as a child, like go to school and take field trips, play outside or go to friends' houses, you are making the idea of a beauty contest seem like a chore instead of a privilege.
A good way to keep the idea of a beauty contest in a good light is to make it out to be like some sort of play. Your child wants to do what you want them to do, whether you think so or not; if you let the stress of the beauty contest get to you are letting the stress get to your child as well. Ensure your child that beauty contests are done for fun and recreation, not as a basis of worth. They should have fun and enjoy the beauty pageant, just as you do.
Proper Use of Hair and Makeup
Using hair color and makeup properly is important for your daughter; remember that they are children although they may look like little adults on stage, and a lot of the hair color and make up products have additives in them that make it difficult for children to develop properly. Improper use of hair and makeup is also illegal in some children's beauty contests. Judges outlaw makeup at all in any of these contests, so be wary of what you do with your child's complexion and hair.
The best thing you can do for your child when entering them in beauty contests is make sure that they understand that it is okay if they are not the Grand Prize Winner. Everybody is a winner just for being able to participate and having the patience and willingness to do so.
Remember that beauty contests are for fun, and are a great way to gain valuable career and education opportunities for girls of all ages. Especially at a young age, who wins and who loses is not important; what are important are the valuable skills your daughter should take away from the beauty contest with her.
